An Education Ordered Toward Who Your Child Is Becoming
An Education Ordered Toward Who Your Child Is Becoming
Choosing a school is about more than selecting a curriculum. You are choosing the people, relationships, ideas, habits, and experiences that will help shape who your child becomes.
At Mount St. Michael Catholic School, we partner with families to help every child become the person God created them to be. That promise guides what we teach, how we teach, and how we care for each student entrusted to us.
our mission & vision
Our Mission
Mount St. Michael Catholic School forms students in courageous virtue grounded in the truth of Christ: to reason clearly, to choose morally, and to serve faithfully.
This mission gives academic excellence its greater purpose. Students cultivate knowledge and intellectual discipline not as ends in themselves, but as means of recognizing truth, pursuing goodness, and using their gifts in faithful service to God and others.
Our Vision
We envision generations of young men and women whose lives reflect the love of Christ—who reason clearly, choose wisely, serve generously, lead courageously, seek truth, pursue goodness, recognize beauty, and bring hope wherever they go.
We want every graduate to leave Mount St. Michael prepared not only for the next stage of education, but for a lifetime of faithful leadership, joyful service, and steadfast trust in God.
Why Our School Exists
Education Is About Becoming Before Achieving
Academic preparation matters. Children need knowledge, disciplined habits of study, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to communicate with clarity. But a true education cannot stop there.
A child may know many facts and still lack the wisdom to discern what they mean and why they are important. A student may achieve impressive results and still be unprepared to make principled decisions. Knowledge finds its highest purpose when it is joined with virtue, faith, and an understanding of what is true, good, and beautiful.
That is why one question guides the life of Mount St. Michael: Who is this child becoming?
We want students to leave MSMCS well prepared for high school, but our responsibility reaches far beyond academic readiness. We seek to form young people who know and love Jesus Christ, pursue truth, choose what is good, recognize beauty, think clearly, act with integrity, and serve others generously.
At Mount St. Michael, success is measured not only by what a student achieves, but by the person that student is becoming.
Jesus at the Center
Faith Is Not One Part of Education
Jesus Christ is the foundation of Mount St. Michael Catholic School. Faith is not confined to religion class or added around the edges of the academic program. It gives purpose to the education we provide and shapes the daily life of our school.
Students encounter Christ through daily Mass, prayer, Scripture, the sacraments, Adoration, service, study, and relationships with adults who understand their work as a vocation.
Every subject gives students another opportunity to encounter God’s truth, order, meaning, and beauty. Every relationship invites students to practice patience, courage, forgiveness, responsibility, and love. Every challenge can become an opportunity to grow in wisdom and virtue.
Our deepest hope is not simply that students learn about Jesus Christ, but that they come to know Him, love Him, and follow Him throughout their lives.
A Different Vision
of Education
Forming the Mind, Heart, Character, and Faith
Children are not empty vessels waiting to be filled with information. Each child is an individual person created in the image and likeness of God, with inherent dignity, unique gifts, and a God-given purpose.
Children flourish when they are known, loved, challenged, encouraged, and inspired. Their habits and character are shaped by what they experience each day, in the classroom and on the playground, in prayer and friendship, through moments of correction, and in the example set by the adults around them.
At MSMCS, formation is not a separate program; it is woven into the entire school day. Students learn to seek truth, choose what is good, recognize beauty, accept responsibility, persevere through difficulty, and use their gifts in service to others.
Academic excellence and personal formation are not competing priorities. Properly understood, each strengthens the other.
The MSMCS Distinction
A Coherent Path from Early
Childhood Through Eighth Grade
Mount St. Michael offers a coherent educational path rooted in the Catholic faith, a Montessori foundation in the early years, and a rich classical education from first through eighth grade.
These are not separate or disconnected programs. Together, they provide an intentional progression that honors the natural development of the child and prepares each student to think independently, act responsibly, and serve faithfully.
Montessori Foundations
In the Montessori years, children learn through purposeful activity, hands-on materials, practical exercises, careful observation, and lessons suited to their developmental readiness.
Within a thoughtfully prepared environment, children develop concentration, coordination, independence, order, confidence, and an early love of learning. Teachers guide each child with care and intention, providing meaningful opportunities to explore, practice, and grow.
Classical Formation
Beginning in first grade, students enter a classical program designed to correspond with their natural intellectual development.
In the grammar years, students build knowledge as they gather, memorize, organize, and categorize information. As they mature into the logic, or dialectic years, they learn to recognize relationships, examine ideas, reason carefully, and express their conclusions with increasing clarity.
Students gain more than just facts and dates. They learn how to learn: how to ask meaningful questions, connect ideas across subjects, evaluate new information in light of what is true, and communicate with clarity and confidence.
Sacramental Life
Daily Mass places Jesus at the center of our shared life. Through prayer, Adoration, Confession, Scripture, and service, students learn that faith is not merely something to be studied, but a life to be embraced and lived.
Truth, Goodness and Beauty
Students pursue truth through disciplined study and careful reasoning. They practice goodness by developing courage, integrity, responsibility, compassion, and self-control. They discover beauty in literature, music, art, mathematics, worship, nature, and the dignity of human relationships.
Together, truth, goodness, and beauty form the mind and heart, drawing students toward the fullness of life found in Jesus Christ.
Outdoor Learning and Wonder
Children flourish when they have meaningful opportunities to encounter the natural world. Through our outdoor classrooms, farm, and apiary, students observe, investigate, work with their hands, care for living things, and discover the order and beauty of God’s creation.
Outdoor learning is not a break from education. It is an essential part of a fuller education, one that cultivates movement, attention, responsibility, discovery, and wonder.
A Joyful Community
Rigor and joy are not opposites. Children can work diligently, embrace meaningful challenges, and still delight in learning and in life together.
Visitors often sense the spirit of MSMCS before they fully understand its educational model. Children are happy to be here. Teachers take genuine delight in their students. Families share a desire to raise children in knowledge, virtue, and holiness.
Joy is not the absence of high expectations. It is the fruit of belonging to a community rooted in faith, trust, purpose, and love.
Families as Partners
Your Role is Essential
Parents are the first and primary educators of their children. The first lessons in faith, love, generosity, forgiveness, responsibility, and service are learned within the family.
Mount St. Michael does not seek to replace this essential role. We exist to support and strengthen it.
The relationship between school and family is a partnership grounded in shared purpose, open communication, mutual trust, and a commitment to each child’s flourishing. Meaningful engagement among families, teachers, school leaders, and the broader community is essential to that partnership.
The goal is not simply to place a child in a good school. It is to surround that child with a community of adults working together toward the same greater purpose.
Our Central Purpose
Helping Every Child Become the Person
God Created Them to Be
Every child is intentionally created by God. Every child possesses unique gifts and inherent dignity. Every child is called to a life of purpose and holiness.
Education, therefore, is more than preparation for a career or the next academic milestone. It is preparation for a life lived with wisdom, faith, and purpose.
We embrace the privilege and responsibility of helping form each child with gratitude, humility, and joy. We commit to partner with families as students grow in wisdom, virtue, confidence, intellectual maturity, and joyful discipleship.
Everything at Mount St. Michael — our curriculum, traditions, programs, relationships, and community—serves that purpose.
